New This Year - FLEXX Player Locker

FLEXX will be running our tryouts this year.  As part of the tryout, all players will need to set up a FLEXX account.  This is being provided to players at no cost to you.

After the tryout, players will have access to their individual tryout data.  If they attend future FLEXX events they will be able to see their progress in these areas over time.

After you have completed the registration to attend the Revolution Tryouts (link above), please create an account, or sign in to an existing account, to add the Revolution Tryout to your cart.  Note: you do not need to enter CC information to checkout.

Make-Up Date

Weather related make-up date is Tuesday, August 8.

The make-up schedule will follow the original schedule.

Beyond weather related make-up dates, we do not have any alternative tryout dates planned.

If there are extraordinary circumstances why you are unable to attend the tryout, please email the program Director to discuss your situation.

Program Fees

Cost for Fall 2023 - Summer 2024

  • New player $975 (2 jerseys, 1 helmet, 2 pants, 2 socks, 1 belt)
  • Returning player $835 (0 jersey, 0 helmet, 2 pants, 2 socks, 0 belt)

New players pay more than returning players due to cost of uniform tops and helmet.  Our goal is uniform tops are used 3-4 years but returning players may need to purchase them again due to growth or wear and tear.  Returning players will be billed separately for replacement tops if needed.

In addition to uniforms, fees cover the cost of paid coaches, 3-4 tournaments, league fees, field rental, umpire costs, liability insurance, website hosting fees and other administrative fees.

Payments can be made in full at the time of offer acceptance or set on a 3-installment payment plan.

Teams

Teams are formed each August for the Fall and Summer seasons.

  • Roster spots are for both fall and summer. We do not have separate teams for each season.
  • Fall tryouts are our only tryout date. We do not hold a separate tryout for Summer season.
  • Registration fee is for fall and summer season.  We do not have a fall or summer only option.

Players are placed on teams based on the results of evaluations.  In most cases,  teams are limited to a roster of 12.

The Revolution program hires independent evaluators to conduct evaluations.  Teams are formed based on these results and positional needs (e.g. each team must have pitchers/catchers).  Our goal is to form teams of "like-skilled" players. Requests to be placed with other players and/or keep community players together will not considered when forming teams.

Our goal is to field a team for any player from our co-op community who wants to play.    We will form as many teams at each level as we are able to based on positional needs and like-skilled level.

However, in the event that a full team cannot be formed, player cuts based on evaluations might be made.  If this happens, the Revolution Board will try to assist players in finding a team to play on.

Offers

Offers are typically made to 1st team players first. Offers are sent via email typically within 24-48 hours.

2nd team offers are typically sent within 48-72 hours.

If we have more than 2 teams per age group offers will typically be sent within 48-72 hours as well.

Players are asked to verbally accept or decline offers within 24 hours.  Accepted offers need to complete a registration and pay the $300 deposit within 48 hours to secure their spot.  After 48-hours the roster spot may be given to another player if registration and payment has not been received.

Offers will not include a list of other players on the team.  Offers may or may not include the level of play the team will participate in for summer season.   Revolution teams play under the USA Softball sanctioning umbrella.  Teams will be placed in the Gold league or Big West league as appropriate to each team.  After fall activities, team level of play for summer season will be finalized.

The offer may or may not include who will be coaching the team.  We have a pool of available coaches that we can draw upon and until we know how many teams we have at each level, we need to have flexibility to assigning them as best fits their skills, the players skills and the program needs.

Program Overview

Fall Season

We recognize many of our players are multi-sport athletes and we want them to continue to be able to focus on their fall sports during the season.  Once teams are formed we make a determination what activities they will participate in during the fall season.

All teams will participate in Fall Skills Practices.  Revolution teams will not participate in Fall League.

Fall Skills Practice consists of 4-6 weeks of practice on Sunday evenings mid/late August thru September/early October.  Inter-program scrimmages or "friendlies" with other teams may be organized in the fall as well.

If a team has enough players able to commit to 1-2 weekends of play in the fall then we may sign them up for a couple local tournaments.

Summer Season

Summer is our primary season.  Our expectation is softball will be players priority activity and all players will be at all/most summer events.

Teams will begin practice in May (depending on age-level and school spring sports schedules) and run through July.

Teams will participate in a summer league (games 1-2 times per week) and play 3-4 tournaments plus league tournaments.  1-2 tournaments may require overnight stays, this will vary by team.

Teams will practice 1-2 times per week.

Every attempt is made to have tournament dates identified and communicated to teams by the end of March each year.

Winter Training

Off-season training is the foundation of personal athletic growth.  One of the most important parts of the off-season is taking time to recover, mentally and physically.  Playing a single sport without a break often leads to injury and loss of interest or "burn out."

Revolution off-season training  goals are to provide a balance between recovery and maintaining fitness through "active rest" activities that expose players to different skills or motions beyond those used while in season.  Active rest activities focus on developing better, stronger foundations and systems as well as returning to the basic skills development.

If you are not able to participate in Revolution organized activities, you are encouraged to work with other trainers/instructors or develop your own training programs.  If you need assistance developing a regimen, please reach out, we have some resources available to assist.

While most off-season training sessions are at an additional cost, the fees may be subsidized by fundraising efforts, as well as your participation fees.  This enables us to provide these opportunities to you at a rate lower than actual cost.

Practice/Game Locations

Fall Season

All Fall Skills Practices are held at the Rockford High School fields.

Summer Season

Each team will be assigned a HOME field based on team composition.  Teams with a majority of players from one co-op association community will be assigned a Home field in that association community whenever possible.

If no co-op community has a majority of players, Home field will be assigned based on fields closest to the majority of players and/or field availability.

All teams may occasionally utilize a non-Home field based on field availability.

Field options:

Rockford High School fields

Delano High School fields

Coaches

We strive to hire coaches that have played at a collegiate level and/or have experience coaching at the high school/college level.  Revolution is committed to hiring female coaches and pairing new coaches with an experienced coach to mentor and support them.

Coaching staff for fall and summer season may vary.  Revolution coaches that also coach high school softball have no-contact periods they must follow and coaches personal schedules may not allow being available both seasons (i.e. college student, job responsibilities).

Parents of players may apply for coaching positions however they must be willing to coach a team their daughter does not play on. Only in rare situations will a parent of a player on the team coach the team.  Each team's coach/assistant coach may vary in their need so parents can reach out to offer support each season.

We are continually looking for coaches as our program grows.  If you are interested, or know someone interested in coaching, please contact us at crowriverrevolution@gmail.com.

Financial Assistance

While we work hard to keep participation fees low, we do not want the registration amount to be the reason a girl does not play softball.

Financial assistance opportunities are available to help cover costs,  please complete the form below if you would like to have more information about options available.
