Rockford School and Legion Baseball Information

School Baseball vs RAAA Baseball (7th/8th Grade only)

As a RAAA Organization, one of our main objectives is to support the guidelines and philosophy being communicated through the Middle/High School programs, with one of our goals being the development of players in collaboration with the School Program.  Players have the opportunity to participate in School Baseball starting at 7th grade and we strongly encourage players to participate in both School Baseball and our RAAA Baseball program.

**Players that do not participate in School Baseball may impact their team placement in RAAA as it has been the Policy (which is not unique to baseball) between our two programs that individuals who are not playing School Baseball are ineligible for the “Top team (AA)” as it pertains to these age levels (unless there are circumstances where registration numbers are low or player attends private school with intention to attend Rockford High School beginning 9th grade).

These are not competing activities, but compliment/support one another as RAAA Baseball for 13/14 year old players will begin once School Ball has ended.

Please note that registration for School Baseball is separately administered through the Rockford School, not RAAA Baseball.  Click here for more information: https://www.rockford.k12.mn.us/Page/2218 or reach out to Activities Secretary Stacey Larsen at larsonst@rockford.k12.mn.us

  • Grades 7 and 8 practice start approximately 1st week of April

Legion and Jr. Legion Baseball

In general, the summer program is viewed as an extension of the high school program.  The goal is to challenge players, while advancing their skill level so they’re ready for the school season.  Therefore, our 9th thru 12th grade players will be evaluated throughout the season by the High School coaching staff, and placed on one of two teams we have in the summer, either the Legion or Jr. Legion team.

Some players will be double rostered depending on pitching, numbers, and what we would like the player to work on. (Ex: A varsity pitcher during the school season will not pitch on JR. Legion, but may have to hone skills defensively or at the plate).  This set up provides our athletes opportunities to play against solid competition, while growing as a baseball player.

As mentioned before, the summer teams are an extension of school baseball. This means the contract all players are required to sign for the school season, will be in effect for the summer league as well. Playing time will NOT be the same as RAAA baseball.  This is a high school program, and our high school rules and philosophy will apply.

Registration for these teams will be communicated in a separate email to impacted parents/players at a later time.

Please reach out to the High School Baseball Head Coach with any questions/concerns.
